Ground water fed bathing lake. This lake is an artificial bathing lake, which is fed by ground water and has developed by digging out gravel.
7 fish species are proved in the Wernberger Badesee:
Pike (Esox lucius)
Bass (Perca fluviatilis)
Eel (Anguilla anguilla)
Chub (Leuciscus cephalus)
Carp (Cyprinus carpio)
Roach (Rutilus rutilus)
Common rudd (Scardinius erythrophthalmus)
Above all chub and red fin dominate. More than 30 years ago they tried to stock trout, but it disappeared again, because of not suitable conditions. The lake is nearly not used for fishing at all, and there is stocking. Only the employees of the gravel works try fishing sometimes.
