Embedded in a flat, hilly landscape in the west of Moosburg there is a pond region, consisting of 3 larger ponds:
the Moosburger Mitterteich, the Moosburger Mühlteich and the Damnigteich; and 2 further smaller ponds. The ponds are situated in an old canyon, which was filled up with sediments out of the Ice Age. Large areas have become rather boggy, because of an insufficient runoff. The Moosburger Teiche are fed by the Stallhofener Bach that has only a little water volume and during the summer months even drains. Forests cover the surrounding of the ponds. The vegetation of the deposition consists of reed and pond rush and of reed mace. The underwater flora is formed by certain species: spawn herbs, TAUSENDBLATT and water lilies. The water is brownish because of the boggy character of the surroundings.
Landscape protection area. The Moosburger pond region is situated in a landscape protection area of 204 ha (LGBl.30/1970).
